I'm a *Cheltenham* based *wedding photographer*. I cover *Wedding photography* assignments within *Cheltenham*, *Gloucestershire* and the *Cotswolds*. Below is a little bit about me and my work. I come from a strong background in the arts, but from a very early age photography has always been my uppermost passion. This passion for photography started when I was very young (maybe five or six) when I stumbled upon my father’s collection of photography books. I still remember seeing them high on a shelf out of reach, presumably there for that exact purpose. With a little ingenuity and fully aware I was being naughty I managed to get to them... The books my father had lovingly collected were by the likes of Arno Minkkinen and Jacques Lartigue as well as the greatest photojournalist of all time: Henri Cartier-Bresson. Even at such an early age I knew these books were very special. Telling me something about the world I would otherwise never have known - be it the subjects, culture or just sheer beauty I came back as often as I could and was always utterly transfixed. From the love of these books plus my education in the arts is how I became a wedding photographer today. The style and look of these masters of the past is my biggest driver, always aiming to capture moments which could have been taken yesterday or 100 years ago. My approach to wedding photography is very considered. I am not the kind of photographer who will take thousands of shots hoping to get a few good ones. Neither am I going to take the guests hostage for three or four hours to take the formal photographs. All guests need to do from my end is relax and enjoy themselves. Believing weddings are a once in a lifetime event, my aim is to simply document the day as beautifully as possible. My studio is based in the Cotswold town of Cheltenham Spa. Although my preference is to work within Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, I do consider assignments further afield. Many thanks for your interest in my work, James Fear
